Who we are

Wrabness Community Shop Limited is a Community Benefit Society registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), registration number 031213R. Our registered address is Black Boy Lane, Wrabness, Manningtree, Essex, CO11 2TL.

We are the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law. The Company Secretary acts as data controller on behalf of the Society.

Members and shareholders

This section applies to people who hold shares in the Society.

What we collect

When you become a member we collect and hold your name andpostal address, email address and telephone number (where provided), your share certificate number and the value of your holding, your membership category, and a record of any correspondence between us.

We do not collect personal data and we do not use automated decision-making or profiling.

Why we hold it

We use your information to communicate with you about Society business (AGM notices, newsletters, important updates, maintain the share register as required by the Co-operative and Community Benefits Societies Act 2014, calculate and process s any repayments or interest due to you, and report to the FCA or HMRC where required by law.

Our lawful basis is legal obligation and legitimate interest.

How long we keep it

Share register records are retained for 11 years after you dispose of your holding, as required by HMRC. Other personal information is retained only as long as necessary.

Who we share it with

We never share your data with third parties for marketing. We may be required to disclose information to HMRC, the FCA, or any other authority with a lawful basis for requiring it. We will notify you if this occurs unless legally prohibited.

Managing your shareholding

You may appoint a third party to manage your shareholding on your behalf. To do so, please contact the Company Secretary for a mandate from which must be signed by you and witnessed.

This section applies to anyone who visits our website at wrabness.shop.

What we collect

If you use the contact form on our website we collect your name and email address in order to respond to your enquiry. We do not add contact form submissions to any marketing list.

Our website platform

Our website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace processes some data on our behalf as part of providing the hosting service, including basic analytics about site visits (pages visited, approximate location, device type). If you have a concern about how we handle your personal data please raise it with us first by writing to the Chair, Wrabness Community Shop. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/concerns.
